A Japanese term for the impermanence of life a bittersweet pathos. #mononoaware #miyabi

Falling leaves, the sounds of birds singing, the wind whistling in the trees.

Not seeking it but aware of nature in transition – stop, look and you’ll note its fleeting lightness, depth, beauty, sadness, no fear, only acceptance.

It was after a busy dye day. Carelessly walking between the house and my studio after the rain – languid moths floating on the surface- leaves fallen into the open dye water- mixing my blue dye colours with death….life has just been extinguished by the water.

A passing ceremony.

Overhead the clouds reflected in the water. Soon to be gone.. my image

Shadow play on the rice painted wall

Sandy coloured rippled textures captured as shibori on crepe silk.

A regard for this impermanent state of mono no aware between dreams.
