Although the indigo process and materials are very important it’s also the cultural history and contemporary links that fascinate the dyer. The modern textile artist has a lot to gain by this practice. The magic of the indigo transformation process continues to lure the colourist into a world of impressions on cloth.

I used Levana fine merino knit base for the skirt layer, Sentosa stretch tissue silk for the tabard dress and hand felted top is made up of a fitted nylon bodice that I reworked. I needed something strong in colour contrast and crisp for Suzanne to wear to the Electra awards…think it works! Just needs shoes and accessories.
